Energy Transition and Net-Zero Climate Future
Prof. Dr. Ho Chin Siong graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Regional Planning from UTM, Master’s Degree in Construction Management from Heriot Watt University, United Kingdom, Doctor of Engineering in System Information Engineering from Toyohashi University Technology Japan and attended the ASEAN Senior Management Development Program at Harvard Business School (Malaysia).
He specializes in low-carbon and smart cities, urban sustainability, urban and environmental modelling, transportation and housing planning and management. He previously served as Project Manager for the Development of Low Carbon Society for the Asian Region and has done much notable research on the Low Carbon Cities Development Programme for Kuala Lumpur City Hall, Putrajaya Corporation, Pengerang City and local authorities within Iskandar Malaysia region.
Currently, in addition to being Professor of the Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, UTM, he holds: Professorial Chair (Penang Island Urban Development) at University Science Malaysia (USM) Penang, Director of the UTM-Low Carbon Asia Centre (SATREPS programme by JICA/JST Japan), Head of RCE Iskandar, Malaysia (RCE global network, United Nations University Institute for the Advanced Study of Sustainability (UNU-IAS)). He is also the Team Leader for Muar Local Plan 2030, 8 Pilot Malaysian Cities of Global Covenant of Mayors (GCOM Brussels), Principal Research for Low Carbon and Renewable Energy of Kuala Lumpur Local Plan 2040, Wangsa Maju Kuala Lumpur Carbon Neutral Growth Centre Action Plan 2050 and team leader for South East Asia Digitization Project Case study Smart Carbon Neutral City Kuala Lumpur 2050 with Pacific Northwest National laboratory (PNNL) USA.
